Meeting Jane Haun

We finally got to meet little Jane Haun last week! I forgot how tiny little babies are! I can't believe that Leighton was half her size when we brought her home from the hospital. Jane was so precious and let me hold her for more than an hour. Before I had Leighton, my arm would feel like it was going to fall off when I held a friend's newborn for even 10 minutes. Now that Leighton has my arm adjusted to the weight, I could've held Jane forever! It was also great seeing John and Jennifer. We hadn't seen them since they moved from next door almost 3 months ago!

Forrest Spence 5k

The Parish family participated in their first 5k ever, and it couldn't have been for a better cause. This was the 3rd annual running of the Forrest Spence 5k. The Spences are members of our church, and we are amazed at how God has turned their tragic loss into such an inspirational story. You can go to forrestspencefund.com for more information about their organization.

Despite this being almost a church event, it was something we've been looking forward to doing for some time. That is, running in a 5k. I'm no where near ready to run the whole thing, but Jonathan has impressed me so much with his recent lifestyle change of being more active and staying healthy. Needless to say, he did awesome! His goal was to finish the race under 30 minutes, and he did just that with a time of 27 min and 18 sec. I, on the other hand, managed to finish but it was at 46 minutes. Pushing a stroller along the way was pretty difficult, so you have to give me some credit for trying! Maybe one of these days, I can run the whole thing!

Here are a few pictures from the race:

Leighton's 1st Trip to the Beach!

Leighton's driving us to the beach!

We're almost to the beach!

The first time Leighton's feet are touching sand.Poor thing, I think she's just wanting to be held. Daddy is showing her the water.
Her 1st time in the pool! She loved it!

She's relaxing and having a good time!
The place we stayed had a great pool!
This was the only picture we got of her on the beach during the day. She ended up hating it, so we only got to stay for about 5 minutes. I think it was the blinding white sand. Poor thing would barely open her eyes. And of course she wouldn't keep her hat or sunglasses on to help!
But now we're happy to be back at the pool!
She loved her snack "pacy." I was putting ice cubes in it to keep her cool.
She was making funny faces in the side of her pack n play while we were getting ready for dinner. Silly girl!
Dinner Sat night at Hammerhead Fred's.
There was another baby nearby, so we couldn't ever get her to look at the camera. Oh well, it's still a cute picture!
We had dinner w/ Aunt Sissy and Eddie. I love how Leighton looks so tiny at the head of the table. lol

1 Year Prof Pics

I think we might need to contact a modeling agency. Look at our pretty little girl!!

12 Month Check-up

Our little toddler is now 16 lbs 6 oz (0%). We're not ready to forward-face in the car yet, but she definitely is feeling a lot heavier to me now! The dr expects her to be the 20 lbs, which is required to forward-face in the car, by Dec. That's a little more ahead of where I was at her age. She's also now 28.25 in (25%), with her head measuring 45 cm (50%). Her weight and length were growing at the same rates as they have been, but her head experienced some rapid growth. Because of this, the dr ordered a CT scan just as a precaution just to be sure that there wasn't anything causing the growth. She did say that it could be either her catching up in growth or if there's a big head in the family, then she could be getting one as well.

Leighton was such a trooper while getting her CT scan done, which was scheduled for the very next day. They laid her arms down next to her, then wrapped her up like a little burrito. They then put a strap over her forehead, and packed towels on either side of her head to be sure she didn't move while it was taking pictures. She looked so sad and so sweet while laying there. I wish we got a picture, but at the same time I didn't think it was appropriate. She did so well for the techs! They said if only all their patients did that well, then they could do them all day long. She never cried, fussed, or even tried to wiggle out! She's such a sweetie pie and we're so proud of her!! One of the techs even told her that she got to see pictures of her brain, and that she had a pretty brain! lol

The dr's office called the next day with the results. They said they came back negative!! Wahoo! Our little girl is just getting a big head. :) That's okay! That just means she'll be smart!

Bath Time!

Leighton takes baths like a big girl now! And she knows how to cover herself!

12 Month Bear Pictures

Originally when we started doing this, I thought that I would go until she was 1. But I've been enjoying seeing her changing from month to month, so I think I'll continue this until she's 2!!
